To the Mothers and the Mother’s Hearts

It’s a little before 5:00 a.m. on Mother’s Day, and I can’t sleep.
The day women who are fighting this battle with infertility dread and those with little ones look forward to has arrived.
*This isn’t going to be a “woe is me” post, I promise.*

If you are having a hard time today, maybe struggling with feelings of resentment or flat out anger at your situation, maybe feelings of depression or just extreme sadness, please be encouraged. As difficult as this day can be to get through, you will get through it.

Please don’t spend all day thinking, “Why me?! Why don’t I have children? What have I done to deserve this?!”
If (and when) this does cross your mind, let me give you the answer God gave me:
“And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.” ~John 9:1-3

I know this story is about Jesus healing a blind man, but the same principle applies.
Was God being mean allowing this man to be born and live blind all his life up to this point?
No! Of course not! He allowed him to live that way for the sole purpose of bringing glory to Himself.
I’ve said before that our Father gets glory through broken things.
We may not understand His designs and purposes, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t there or they aren’t perfect.
Be encouraged! Jesus knows this is a hard day for you. Let Him give you comfort.
Hold your head high! He has a purpose for the pain. Let His glory shine through you today. Be the trophy of grace He intends you to be.

For those of you who are mothers, enjoy your special day! You definitely deserve to be honored for all you do.
You’re raising the next generation! Love them. Care for them. Give them the Gospel at every opportunity….not just with your lips, but with your life.
Raising those precious gifts from God is the most important thing you can do.
I’m sure the days get long and tiring. I’m sure some days you want to lock yourself in the bathroom and stay there a while.
Please be encouraged! God sees those rough, exhausting days, and He’ll give you the strength to face them.
What you’re doing matters! You have more of an influence over those little ones than anyone else. Please point them to Jesus every chance you get.
He is taking notice and will get glory through your life as well.

One of my sweet friends sent me a text last night that said, “To my dear friend with a mother’s love and a mother’s heart, happy Mother’s Day. I love you. ♥”
Whether you have children who call you “Mother” or you simply have a mother’s heart, if you are a child of God, you are honored.
Christ is the One who has made us special by setting His love on us and shedding His blood for us.
He doesn’t look at us differently or weigh our value according to the number of children we have.
We are special because we are His.
And friends, that’s enough.

💜 Happy Mother’s Day! 💜
