A Simple Truth

These past few weeks have been kinda rough.
On top of being sick since the beginning of August, we’ve been crazy busy and my stress level has soared through the roof.

I’ve cried at the drop of a hat and my poor husband has had to endure everything from my rantings (not aimed at him, by the way) to sobbing to silence…. All the while, there’s a battle raging in my mind.
Sometimes, being a grown-up isn’t all it was cracked up to be.

Through it all, do you know what I have discovered?

God is faithful.

I know it’s a simple statement, but when this simple truth takes hold in your heart, it’ll make all the difference in the world.

Over and over, the Bible speaks of the faithfulness of God:

“Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.” Psalms 119:90

“But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.” 2 Thessalonians 3:3

Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” 1 Thessalonians 5:24

“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)” Hebrews 10:23

“This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:21-23

This is by no means extensive, but it is a few examples of the promises of His faithfulness.

If the Bible mentions something only once, we should pay attention, but this promise is found over and over and over again.
It’s almost like He knew we would face things in our lives and would need a definitive reminder that He will always be there. 😉

I’m thankful His faithfulness isn’t conditional.
I’m certainly glad it doesn’t hinge on my faithfulness to Him.

We are weak, fallen people.

We’re going to fail Him.
We’re going to throw our hands up and wonder, “What’s the use?”
We’re going to question why He is allowing certain things in our lives.
We’re going to have moments when we doubt if He really does know what He’s doing because we can’t see how the end can possibly be good….

And then His peace and love will flood our soul, and He will remind us that He hasn’t forgotten, and He’s still faithful…

And we’re going to tell Him we’re sorry.
We’re going to wonder how He can love us in spite of ourselves.
We’re going to wonder why He would even choose to, knowing how we’d fail Him.
And we’re going to kneel at His nail-scarred feet and worship Him who is ever faithful.

“If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.” 2 Timothy 2:13

This has become one of my favorite verses in the Bible, because I know myself, and it reminds me that no matter what I do or how I feel, it doesn’t change who He is or what He does.

No matter what you’re going through or how your heart is breaking, please remember this simple truth:

He is faithful.

Sometimes the way is rough and hard.
Sometimes I don’t feel like traveling on.
And sometimes I’m pierced by Satan’s darts.
Sometimes I just want to go home.

Oh, but always He is with me.
Always He still cares.
Always He reminds me that He will always be there.

Sometimes I feel like I could die.
Sometimes my world crumbles in my hands.
And sometimes I’m weary from the fight.
Sometimes I’m just too weak to stand.

Oh, but always He is with me.
Always He still cares.
Always He reminds me that He will always be there.
